Stroke & Turn Judges Needed: Best View of the Pool!

    Greetings Wahoo Families!

The warmer weather is getting us excited for Wahoos swim team! As we draw closer to the start of the season, we would like to encourage you to become a Stroke and Turn Judge. This is an important role at our meets to ensure a fair competition for all swimmers. Stroke and Turn Judges get a front row seat to all the action!
What does a Stroke and Turn Judge do?
A Stroke and Turn Judge's primary responsibility is to ensure swimmers adhere to the rules during a race, specifically regarding stroke technique and turns. They observe swimmers in their part of the pool and report any infractions if he or she observes something outside the rules.
How do you become a Stroke and Turn Judge?
There is a training that is required to become a certified Stroke and Turn Judge. In just a couple of hours, you will learn all there is to know about each stroke/kick/arms/turn/finish. The league conducts a few trainings that you can attend OR you can attend a training specific for our own team:

Why in the world would I want to become a Stroke and Turn Judge??
    • Best view in the house!
    • Learn all the rules in swimming so you can help your child understand them as well
    • Make sure that the competition is fair for each swimmer
    • Sign up for these volunteer shifts before the season even starts
For each meet, we are required to provide four Stroke and Turn Judges. Due to some of our long-time judges graduating out of Wahoos, we are in great need for new Stroke and Turn Judges this year. We can't run our meets without this role and we think that it is a great way to fulfill your volunteer requirements! If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to our Meet Ref, Laurie Abplanalp at [email protected]
    Thanks! Go Wahoos!
